Our customer sent us two pieces of mud cloth purchased from The African Fabric Shop. Mudcloth, from Mali, is made up of sewn together strips and dyed with mud dye and each piece is totally unique. The stool border was built to the exact depth measurement of the fabric, with an additional polished show-wood rail and the stripe mirrored at each end of the dotted top. We even created double piping out of uniform dotty strips. Our customer said "The Mudcloth company are as thrilled as us".
We were very excited by these mud cloth African fabrics and created another design around two further original pieces of cloth in sand and black.
Ottoman Silks commissioned us to produce a range of "ottomans" to showcase their sumptuous silk fabric collection which replicate exactly the original kaftan designs worn by the sultans in Ottoman Empire in the 15ht and 16th Century.
The beautiful motif on this oval stool, Vizier, follows seamlessly and contiuously round the shape and is trimnedin Designer's Guild velvet with individually hammered in studs adorning the lower edge. Ottomans "Pasha", "Agha" and "Hazinedar" were also created around the floral motifs symbolising the Ottoman Empire.
One company we really love because of their bold original designs and how well these translate into our furniture pieces is Mulberry. We always get very excited when their new collections come out and one of the first oval ottomans we created featured the dress circles applique linen fabric. The circles flow perfectly around the circumference of the stool.
I designed a mid century style stool around the same fabric from the Festival range which followed the precise measurements of the circle pattern. The Bedouin Stripe with its fabulous embroidered stripe was showcased on a Morroccan style pouffe with the stripe following the contour of the stool, and the top stitched in segments to create a square.
Legs or show wood can be lavishly carved by skilled British woodcarvers as a bespoke option. Due to the labour intensive nature of bespoke carvings on a made to measure piece, the price will be upon application of a formal design. Alternatively, this Italian carved bench stool which is a stock size measuring 43cm high, 131cm wide and 51cm deep, can be purchased for £755 plus fabric. It is perfect for the end of a French bed or as a stand alone window seat. Here it is pictured in the sumptuous Dragonfly fabric by De le Cuona.
We were honoured to be asked to create four bench stools for the central cabin of this historic vessel moored at St Katherine's Docks. The beautiful Havengore carried Sir Winston Churchill's body for his state funeral along the Thames in 1965 and it leads the Armistice Day Thames procession every year. Our client chose an ivory fabric in a bordered design with piping and double piping in brown Isle Mill wool direct from their Scottish mills.
Designed for a very busy retail outlet in the dog walking paradise of the Surrey Hills, these designer dog beds were built around pretty patterns from fabric designers such as Emily Bond and are topped with our favourite Impala fabric, because of its incredible stain resistant properties and soft velvety feel. The collection also comprises a variety of unique dog stools with ticking borders, claw and ball legs and other unusual trims, ideal as gifts for dog owners too! This range is constantly being updated due to their popularity, a selection of which are available to buy from our online shop and from Applegarth Farm Shop.
These limited edition stools were designed for a large Hamprshire retailer. Applique fabric by Voyage was bordered with a check and piped with navy silk velvet to create a striking skateboard stool for a boy's bedroom as part of a co-ordinated range. The girl's handbag stool was trimmed with pretty pink silk double piping.
When Impala fabrics, with their incredible stain repellent properties grabbed our attention, we added to the collection with a duo colourway vibrant design, perfect for a nursery or children's bedroom or play room. This sumptuous velvety fabric is incredible. Tomato ketchup, bito, paint and much more can simply be wiped off with a wet wipe. The Bespoke Footstool Company stocks the Impala fabric range and stools can be made in any design in this amazing fabric.
